Basketball

Last night we the older boys each had a basketball game, {whose overlapping in timing has proven to be quite a challenge} and so we dressed in their gear and headed to the court to cheer them on.  This time however, daddy stayed home with Drew who is still recovering from the flu, so I got to be their #1 cheerleader!  I have come to enjoy watching sports {well, if it involves my children} and they both did so great.  In fact, Davis had his best game ever and Jackson scored 2 baskets and was a star dribbler.  He loves to play point guard and likes that the coach has him bring the ball down the court most of the time.  He also has started to do a little "smack talking!"   When we got out of the game, he asked me if I saw him when he looked like Superman!  So cute!  He said he was so cool rushing the ball past everyone to do a layup that he looked like Superman.  He also told me that one of the kids on the other team, who happened to be a girl, was next to him on the court bragging that her team was undefeated.  My little guy didn't even skip a beat and said " Well not anymore!" grabbed the ball from her and proceeded to dribble to the basket and make a shot!

Both boys play for a church league here in town, and it never ceases to amaze me that they can keep up with the score.  They reset the score after each quarter, because they really don't want the kids to keep score.  The focus is on learning the skills, being a team player, and having fun.  That being said, Jackson will always tell us the score and who made each basket on the way to the car.  I love his pride and confidence in sports.  He tends to be a quiet kid at school, so it's nice to see him really thrive in his love of sports.

Davis has made HUGE strides on the court.  Of course, he is still young for the team, and still day dreams a bit and is quite silly, but he has improved so much from week to week!  He did a great job dribbling, passing, and almost made a goal {the ball circled the rim several times before falling back out}.  He LOVES finally being the one on the court and having everyone else cheer him on for a change!  YEAH Davis!
